The  aim of the Australian Choral Festival is to encourage and develop choral music at all levels within a non-competitive environment.

Benefits:

  • The chance to perform in a non-competitive environment.
  • Be rewarded for their efforts - each chorister receives a participation certificate.
  • Each group receives a festival award for their school.
  • The chance to hear other choirs. All choirs sit in the auditorium and listen to the other performances of that cluster.

Assessment
A highly qualified assessor in the choral field will give each choir a written assessment of their performance.
The assessment is based on the criteria listed below and choirs will be awarded either Gold, Silver or Bronze.

The criteria are based on the quality of performance, within the context of the difficulty of the repertoire selected and the level ( e.g. primary, secondary) of the individual choir.

Assessment is not based on a comparison with other ensembles.

Criteria is as follows: Sound Quality / Technical Elements / Musical Interpretation / Programming and Presentation.

The opinions and comments made by the assessor are their own personal opinions and are not necessarily those of the festival organizers.
